The makers of ‘Batwara 1947’ have released character posters of the film’s full cast. The reveal came on Wednesday, June 17. It follows a motion poster that introduced the project earlier this month.
The fresh set of posters shows Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh. Each actor appears in period costume. The looks reflect the era the film is set in. Every expression points to hardship and survival.

The posters arrived with a caption from the makers. It described the cast as people who lived through a world torn apart. The film hits theatres on August 14.

‘Batwara 1947’ is set during the Partition of India. The story centers on courage, displacement, survival. It follows ordinary people caught in extraordinary events.
The film was first announced under the title ‘Lahore 1947’. The makers later renamed it ‘Batwara 1947’. The new title came along with the first motion poster.
Plot details remain limited. The makers have not shared a full synopsis yet. The focus so far has stayed on cast reveals and visual teasers.
Noted playwright Asghar Wajahat has worked on the film’s dialogues. He is known for his play “Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai.” Director Rajkumar Santoshi has also co-written the screenplay alongside him.
The film marks a reunion between Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi. The two last worked together on ‘Ghatak’ in 1996. Before that, they delivered ‘Ghayal’ in 1990 and ‘Damini’ in 1993. All three films found strong success at the box office.
Santoshi has spoken about casting Abhimanyu Singh as the film’s main antagonist. He pointed to actors like Amrish Puri and Danny Denzongpa as past benchmarks for memorable villains in Hindi cinema. He said it was time to look toward new talent for that role.
‘Batwara 1947’ marks Preity Zinta’s comeback to acting. Her last film was ‘Bhaiaji Superhit’ in 2018. She plays a key role alongside Sunny Deol in the new film.
